Samurai Gattai Series EX: Kyouryuu Origami (2009)

Kyouryuu Origami is Shinkenger’s summer movie ‘exclusive’ mecha, but it appeared in the show repeatedly, and in subsequent movies. As a sword, Kyouryuumaru exists as Sentai’s version of Mjölnir. Only those who are just and worthy have been allowed to wield it, individually. Its individual use is the focus of the Japanese release, as this is a remold of the Shinkenmaru and functions much better as a role-play weapon than as one meant to be held by Shinken-Oh. It can hold a flip-out handle while this sits there. They tried, and it really is huge when wielded by the suit-actor. It’s great, especially if you have a lot of hiden discs and don’t want a Shinkenmaru.

Comparisons of the various versions can be found below the cut.

The Kyouryuu disc is predictably included.

As far as I know, the Bandai Asia release is exactly the same as the original. This is another case where what you want it to do will dictate which version you’ll want to buy. If you want a role-play toy for you, get Kyouryuu Origami itself. If you want a sword for Shinken-Oh, get the Sharkzord and the Samurai Megazord. He’s a great stand-alone purchase for Takeru and Chiaki collectors. I suppose if you’re super-exhaustive about it, he could fit in a Genta collection. Getting the gashapon disc would be good enough for a Sosuke collection. I never did try to fit the disc on the Mantan Gun when I owned them both. I’m sure it sits there just fine. Don’t expect it to lock on, though.
