Engine Gattai Series 10-12 — DX Engine Gattai Kyoretsu-Oh (2008)

Kyoretsu-Oh is a chubby tubster who can only perform karate chops. To me, this paints him as the portliest of powerhouses, who exists for the sole purpose of wrecking shop. These three ancient Engines do not speak any human languages, but the other characters kindly reiterate what they say. Kishamoth’s included Engine Soul does not bear translations, admittedly. Sosuke’s chou robo doesn’t care how it looks, only how it gets the job done. The full combination of all 12 Engines and 7 Senshi doesn’t care, either. The point is that they’re all together, as one, and no one could ever deny that they are. It’s a surprisingly solidly built clusterfuck for a surprisingly solid team.

Details regarding T-Line and K-Line's Engine Souls are below the cut.

5 Resolutions to Ride and Die Together out of 5

The liners' souls are both included with the KanKan Bar. Most of their sounds are dedicated to the functionality of that weapon; the rest are various roars. The reason to purchase them is purely philosophical, as all thought of the practical variety unfortunately says to not bother.

I had the Bandai Asia release and it was exactly the same, mold-wise, as the original. As much as it will wreck your finances, the Engines are a set of mecha I personally feel that you can’t pick and choose with, outside of Go-Roader GT and Engine DaiShogun. If you get one (or one set) you’ll most likely want them all, and that’s fitting, given the show from which they originate.

It’s very much an all-or-nothing mecha line, in my eyes. For good, and for ill. Options exist for getting them on the back-market, via Yahoo Japan Auctions and Mandarake. With the RPM versions, you don’t have much of a way around ebay, which has them consistently listed for insane amounts. Yard sales and thrift stores, I guess?

It is nice that it’s less of a rock-and-a-hard-place to get the better, original versions, at least.
